Why Exterior Work Isn’t Just About Price in North Bay
One of the most common questions I get is how my pricing compares to other contractors.
And the truth is, it can vary quite a bit depending on who you talk to.
A lot of people will get a few quotes and naturally lean toward the lowest number.
That makes sense at first, but with exterior work, price isn’t always the best way to judge what you’re actually getting.
Most of the cost in a job comes down to how it’s done.
The materials matter, but the time spent on details, the way things are finished, and how everything ties together is what really makes the difference.
That’s not always something you can see just by looking at a number on a quote.
I’ve been on jobs where people went with a cheaper option the first time and ended up having to redo parts of it later.
Sometimes it’s small things, other times it’s bigger issues that could have been avoided.
That’s usually where the difference shows up.
Exterior work also isn’t something that’s easy to fix after the fact.
Once it’s on, it’s on.
So things like flashing, trim work, and how everything is sealed and finished matter more than people think.
If those details aren’t done properly, it can lead to problems down the road.
That doesn’t mean the highest price is always the best either.
What matters more is how the work is done and whether the person doing it takes the time to get it right.
A lot of the work I do is focused on clean finishing and making sure everything lines up properly.
Custom trims, soffit and fascia, and taking the time to make sure it looks right from every angle.
That’s usually where the difference is between something that looks good for a year and something that still looks good years later.
At the end of the day, you’re not just paying for materials.
You’re paying for how the job is done, how long it lasts, and how it looks when it’s finished.
